CVS Health Downtown 5K

First this fall was the CVS Health Downtown 5K in Providence, RI.  A hot day plus a late start made this one a scorcher.  The Men's Vets team started the fall off where they left off in the spring - with another win.  John Barbour's 2nd place age group finish set the stage and Steve Sartori and Ken Goodin brought it home.  The Men's Seniors team had the next best finish with a 4th place -- led by Mark Reeder's 2nd AG and top GLRR finish at 17:23.  Women's Seniors (led by Liane Pancoast) and Men's Masters (led again by Reeder) both had 5th place finishes.  Women's Masters, led by top GLRR lady Bethany Knoettner, finished in 6th while the open team was 8th.  Men's Open finished a strong 10th led again by Reeder.

On the individual side Denny Leblanc won the 75-79 age group.

Next up in the fall slate was the Lone Gull 10K in Gloucester.  It was another hot day and there wasn't much relief at the coast.  The first chicken across the line was Alex Eld in 35:51.  The first GLRR woman to finish was Bethany Knoettner in 42:19.  Peter Caron took the 1-19 division by almost 9 minutes with a 37:46.  John Barbour took his division as well with a 36:52.  Our third division winner was Nancy Patch as the first female finisher over 70.

On the team side, the men's open team was 11th, the women's open team was 12th, and the women's masters were 6th.  Masters men and women's seniors both finished in 4th.  Men's seniors and women's veterans both finished in the money at 3rd.  The men's veterans team kept their undefeated season going with another first place finish.

The last race in the series was our very own Baystate Marathon.  We fielded a small but strong crew there as this race depends on our membership to volunteer.

Alex Eld was the first across the line donning our green with an impressive 2:45.  EJ Hrynowski followed him a few minutes later in 2:59 -- netting him first 55-59.  Johan Keller rounded out our 7th place men's open team with a 3:16.  The men's masters team added Chris Hancock and Robert Day to net a 3rd place finish.  Cha-ching!  Adding Tom Peters to EJ and Robert gave us another 3rd place money finish for the men's seniors.

On the women's side Jaye Morgan was our first finisher in 3:47.  Jill Lohmeier and Nancy Dorn rounded out the 9th place women's open team.

Final Results

Congratulations to our first place Men's Veterans team!  How many years running is that?  On the individual side, John Barbour won 60-64, Denny LeBlanc was 2nd 75-79, Nancy Patch was 2nd 70-74, and Mark Reeder had a 3rd place finish 55-59.

Also congratulations to all of our Iron Runners: Tom Peters, Robert Day, EJ Hrynowski, KJ Nam, Chris Basha, Chris Hancock, Nancy Dorn, Erika Campbell, and Jaye Morgan.
